Kate Lincoff and Adam Lewis proved one thing to us here at Wedding Dance Coach… Lawyers CAN DANCE! 🙂 We had so much fun working with Kate and Adam on their surprise first dance. They started off with the classic “When a Man Loves a Woman” (makes my heart melt every time) and then showcased their unique personalities as they boogied through a montage of songs. We loved their energy level and ability to just let loose, have a good time and not take themselves to seriously. Kate and Adam tied the knot on August 18th, 2012 at the romantic world of Della Terra Mountain Chateau in Estes Park.
Kate, How did you meet the love of your life (in 5 sentences or less)?
We met on the first day of law school orientation at Washington University in St. Louis. He asked me to be in his study group. 3 months later he told me he was going to marry me one day. We didn’t even start dating until 2 years after that! 🙂
What was your first dance song and why did you pick it?
We picked a montage of 5 songs! When a Man Loves a Woman, The Twist, Thriller, This is How You Do It, Single Ladies, Sexy and I know It…. we chose to do a fun surprise dance because we don’t take ourselves too seriously! It was meant to take the embarrassment out of dancing and show everyone that it’s okay to make a fool out of yourself!
Why did you choose to take wedding dance lessons?
For me, the dance was a stressful thing until we decided to do the surprise dance and take lessons. I was nervous. I don’t like having to be that serious and intimate in front of a group of people! So by deciding to make a joke out of it we personalized it and took the pressure off! I don’t know if they were laughing at us or with us, but there was a lot of laughing!
Would you recommend wedding dance lessons?
What was your favorite moment at your wedding?
Just one?! The dance was one of them. I danced my garter off!! People were shocked. It got everyone excited for the rest of the night. I also really liked the part where I married my best friend…
