3 Ways to Beat Wedding Planning Stress

3 Ways to Beat Wedding Planning Stress!

Planning your *dreamy* wedding is all warm and fuzzy when you’re simply putting together a Pinterest mood board, right? Everything gets very real when you start making decisions, plunking down deposits, and stressing over the guest list.

Try these 3 ways to dial down your planning stress and decision fatigue while turning the volume UP on fun, play, and calm. You CAN have the wedding of your dreams and actually ENJOY it at the same time—from securing your venue to wowing your guests with your First Dance.

Remember your “why”

It might go without saying, but when you’re in the thick of wedding planning, it’s so helpful display your “WHY” for having a wedding in a visible spot–like actually write it out on a Post-It Note and stick it to your fridge or mirror. You created this vision—you always get to choose the direction it goes.

Perhaps your “why” is something like:

  • Because we love each other, we love our friends, and we want to have the BEST time with them as we celebrate our new family.

  • Because life is better with the folks you love—and celebrations are THE way to express our joy.

  • We get to do what we want—the work is worth it because we’ll enjoy and remember our wedding forever.

Whatever your reason for planning your event, keep it personal and top-of-mind. (And side note, if you discover that your “why” centers around someone or something besides you and what you both want, it may be time for a serious course-correct on your planning—and that’s OKAY!)

K.I.S.S. your wedding planning journey

Keep. It. Simple, Sweetie!

Elegance and fanfare are totally possible while also embracing a heavy dose of simplicity. Focus on the two or three elements of your wedding that are TRULY important to you, and release the rest.  Perhaps you and your Honey are both extreme foodies. If so, make the meal, snacks, and drinks the focus of your Big Day.

Or, if you LOVE a good theme (like country chic, glam, or disco), get playful with the little extras that make your day memorable and FUN above all—and chill out on other elements.

Enlist help — early on

You don’t have to “bootstrap” your entire wedding.

Whether it’s in your budget to hire a planner and some additional support, or you’ll be leaning into friends and family to help make your spotlight moment memorable, let people help you! Don’t isolate, Especially when it comes to the fun stuff, like your First Dance!  This part of wedding planning is arguably the most playful, light-hearted, and love-filled part of your planning adventure.

Think about it—you get to pick a song the two of you LOVE (no longer than 3-ish minutes, please), discover your dance “vibe” together, and even throw in some mic-drop moments like lifts, spins, or dips (for awesome videos and pictures you’ll remember as the highlight of your day.)

Our satisfied couples all tell us how much they loved the ENTIRE First Dance process – from the very first lesson to their confident, shining performance. This is perhaps the ONE planning zone that doesn’t actually feel like planning, when you work with us!

At WDC, we offer in-person wedding dance lessons at our Denver studio, AND we coach happy couples world-wide in our Virtual Studio as well!

Wedding dances are ALL we do… and we invite you to experience the difference in hiring a specialist to eliminate your planning stress and amplify your TOTAL JOY, elegance, and confidence in your First Dance, even if you think you have two left feet.

Kick the awkward middle school sway to the curb when you book your first lesson HERE!

PS: Our September schedule is FULL, so be sure to get proactive. As soon as you know your wedding date, book your first lesson 3-4 months in advance if possible. (We CAN, however, work miracles in a short time if necessary. Check out our schedule for all our lesson openings through fall and winter!)
